The incident took place around 3:49 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, at the mall in East Garden City, according to the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, a security guard for the mall was monitoring surveillance cameras when he saw a man entering several unauthorized areas of the mall during non-business hours, police said.
Police were alerted and a short time later a man matching the one seen in surveillance footage was found walking in the parking lot.
He was stopped and identified Naeshaun Hall, 19, of Hempstead and placed into custody without incident, police said.
A further investigation revealed Hall was in possession of a ski mask, a kitchen knife and a large sum of cash that was taken from multiple stores inside the Roosevelt Field Mall, police added.
Hall was charged with six counts of burglary and unlawful possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, April 18.
